Boston’s Guns Up
January 29th, 2010 1 comments
The last time I saw Dan (Guns Up’s vocals) was back in my Goodfoot days. He was living in Montreal for a few months. Sometimes he would come by the shop to hang out on the stoop and keep Nick and I busy on slow days. It’s been a minute since I’ve seen Guns Up play in Montreal, so I’m pretty stoked for tomorrow’s show. Dan don’t disappoint me and make the crowd go crazy!
A New Found Love For Silver

Some Obey Spring 2010 jewelry samples given to me from the lovely sales rep Kat. I don’t really know what the story is behind Obey’s jewelry and who is their metalsmith but these two pieces are my favorite of the spring collection. I usual don’t wear a lot of jewelry. In fact, I put on the same pinkie ring and (Agatha Paris bicycle) necklace every day. However, recently I’ve found some sort of love for rings in either a bronze, brass, or antique silver just like the Obey ones bellow. Thanks to my new favorite blog Hands On With X, I’ve been introduced and fallen in love with this feather ring. After a trip to NYC in February, it will hopefully be mine.

PS I’m stoked that when I put effort in taking photos, they can come out pretty decent like the one above. Can’t wait to get a DSL!

Saturdays
January 25th, 2010 4 comments
I’m pretty much the only person who comes in the office on Saturdays. I guess it shows how much work I need to catch up on every week. My office space is a mess because I share it with boys. Everytime I clean it up, it ends up worse a few days later.

Dance Dance Dance

School has me pilling up the books. Let me tell you this last semester wont be an easy one. With all that going on, I somehow find the time to read Dance Dance Dance by Haruki Murakami. The novel follows the misadventures of the protagonist who makes a living as a commercial writer. He begins to experience weird dreams that lead him to uncover two mysteries.
“Murakami’s is able to capture the spiritual emptiness of his generation and explore the negative effects of Japan’s work-dominated mentality. His writing criticizes the decline in human values and a loss of connection among people in Japan’s society.”
Undercover Spring 2010

Undercover takes it to another level every time. Japanese designer Jun Takahashi’s recently met Dieter Rams, the head designer behind Braun. Rams’ principle behind his electronic products, “Less is better” caught on to Takahashi; which is why he believed that Rams’ ideal of minimal functionality should also apply to Undercover. For Spring, Takahashi designed his mens and womens collection as a homage to the Braun aesthetic of minimal detail. He uses a similar gray and khaki palette, orange buttons, perforated patches taken from stereo speakers, and narrow tan leather straps found in Braun’s industrial designs. Simply Brilliant.

A Cloak Crave

Lindsay Thornburg is from the the high mountains of Colorado. Her outerwear cloak are color friendly with different navajo prints. Each piece has some references to her love for Peru and its surroundings. Although they may be a little too extravagant for me, they are pretty close to what I want for this spring. Why cloaks?
“The structure of a cloak is a really amazing concept because it gives you a really beautiful palette to explore different patterns and colors and it’s just big and drapey. You’re not limited by seam lines or confusing structures” -Lindsay Thornburg
Looking For Blue
January 18th, 2010 9 comments
I’m a woman with shape. God has blessed me with some full hips and thighs but has also given me a smaller waist. Finding jeans that fit right seems nearly impossible. Through trial and error, my list of brands have grown to be exhaustive. Recently, I have settled on a pair of Levis 421 (which make me happy) but I am itching to try on a pair of Pure Blue Japan. PBJ is a Japanese denim company that uses pure indigo dye as well as natural plant indigo in the production. Their denim material is also thick and rough. Among the variety of fits they offer, the 12 oz One Wash Slim Stretch is what has me interested. It was photos of an aged pair that caught my eye. The end result has me lusting for a pair of PBJ. Feel free to leave me any other suggestions.
For boys in America, PJB can be found at Blue in Green.
